The Real Cost of Turkey Teeth

Jetting off abroad for cosmetic dental work, like veneers or implants, sounds tempting, right? Especially when you can cram in a holiday at the same time. Win-win! However, the real troubles start when you get home and are alone.

If you hate your smile and know you’ll never be able to pay for cosmetic work in the UK because it’s too expensive, then we understand just how tempting going to cheaper countries like Turkey or Hungary can be. However, you should heed our advice first.

Imagine for a moment that we’re not trying to take your business or money; we’re simply dentists trying to advise you on the future of your oral health. Cheap dentistry might seem like your only solution right now, but it might destroy your natural teeth, leaving you with nothing but dentures in the future.

You might have read horror stories online, like “Turkish Teeth Gone Wrong,” but our practice in Weybridge has seen them up close and had to step in when hundreds of other dental practices turned them away.

The realities of Turkey Teeth

  • If you experience complications of any kind, you will struggle to find a dentist in the UK who is willing even to take a look, let alone help.
  • Patients typically experience problems with their speech, chewing and eating and are often in pain.
  • Those opting for dental implants receive sub-par brands with little clinical research and backing, meaning implants can fail and cause infections.
  • Turkish websites use logos of reputable brands we use here in the UK, but their packages include something else entirely.
  • Turkey teeth, even without complications, do not last forever, and patients will incur higher costs because of crowns rather than veneers.

Real messages from real patients reaching out:

We have omitted names and details to keep these enquiries private and anonymous:

Having crowns placed instead of veneers

“Do you accept turkey teeth patients? I have a problem with my crowns, and I’m scared to go back to Turkey. I think I need them all replaced.”

No other UK dentist would help (patient travelled from Scotland):

“Thanks, that’s great; you’re the first to say yes.”

Poor and cheap dental work led to an abscess:

“I have an abscess on my front tooth which is the main problem. It’s been a nightmare😭honestly, the worst decision of my life, getting Turkey teeth.”

Misleading marketing

“It’s crazy. I just read their website, and it says you will have no problem seeing a dentist in the UK. They’re just liars.”

Devastated with how their smile was left

“Let’s just hope my teeth can be saved. I’m honestly in bits at the moment.”

Gap forming under bridge

“I am just wondering if I could get some information on a worry I have about my crowns/bridges from Turkey. I had an extraction on a gap and a bridge over it. It has been close to two weeks since I had my teeth done, but is this a worry?

22 teeth replaced – far from the UK standard

“Some of the teeth never bothered me. But now, some of the gums have swollen. I had 22 teeth replaced with crowns and is a massive regret! 😅” Margaret Walton On Thames

Teeth too tight together,r causing gum issues

“Hi do you accept a patient with teeth done in Turkey. To get crowns removed and replaced? I have no infections or anything but my gums are inflamed because the teeth are too tight together. I just want them out and replaced with a UK dentist so that they will actually be done right! It’s a massive regret ever getting them done.” Mr Samuel Addlestone

Instant regret

Hi. Unfortunately, I’m in Turkey and should have really dug deeper into the process of Shark teeth as now I’ve had it done, not even finished treatment, and teeth have already fallen out, 1 day in, then replaced. Again, within 5 mins fell out again. I want to come home. I have temporary plastic teeth in and I am really unsure if to carry on… is it possible to maybe come home and book a consultation with you about fixing what has been done? I haven’t had implants yet, just crowns at the front, as I had 2 chipped teeth.”

We hope we can help

If you already have Turkey Teeth and hate them but need a dentist who understands and can help, you’ve found the right place. On the flip side, if you were thinking of Turkey Teeth, we hope our patient comments above have dissuaded you. If we can stop one person from going and damaging their teeth for no reason, we’ll be happy.

Cosmetic dentistry is more expensive in the UK, but it’s for good reason. If you want veneers, then you can get them, but don’t opt for crowns or porcelain. Explore more affordable options, such as composite, which keep your underlying teeth intact and intact. Other options do exist – and they are affordable!

Composite veneers cost £350 per tooth, so a full set costs around £2,000. Want to make it even more affordable? Use interest-free finance over 12 months or interest-bearing terms up to 60 months.
