What can porcelain veneers fix?

Porcelain veneers can solve multiple problems with your smile in one.

Whether you need to conceal chips, cracks, discolouration or even achieve a straighter and whiter smile, porcelain veneers might just be the right treatment to makeover your smile in as little as 3 appointments.

Types, versions and brands of porcelain veneers

There are several types of porcelain veneers, with various brands offering their own unique set of benefits.

  • Standard porcelain: Traditional porcelain veneers use lab-made, wafer-thin shells no larger than 0.5 mm thick. They are bonded to the teeth and require some enamel removal (only the same size as a veneer).
  • Durathin: A brand of porcelain veneers which are incredibly thin (0.3mm), which means they can adhere to the tooth without prior tooth preparation.
  • Ultrathin: Similar to Durathin, but slightly larger (0.4mm) and minimally invasive.
  • Lumineers: The thinnest type of porcelain veneers (0.2mm), making them the same size as contact lenses, which also require no tooth prep.
  • Emax veneers: High-strength porcelain veneers are slightly thinner than traditional types and require less enamel removal.

Porcelain veneers are a way to cover chips, cracks, staining, small gaps and minor alignment issues, often in as little as 3 appointments.

For example, we might not need to place more than 1-3 veneers if it’s not necessary We can even combine other treatments like composite bonding to achieve the results you’re expecting.

After a consultation and assessment of your teeth, we’ll help you identify how many porcelain veneers you’ll need—usually around 6-8 for a full smile, depending on the type of veneer and how wide your smile is.

  • It will cost £850 for one veneer
  • £1,700 for two veneers
  • £2,550 for three veneers
  • £5,100 for six veneers
  • £6,800 for eight veneers

Specially designed for you

When considering veneers, you might be worried they’ll look unnatural, especially if you’ve seen some photos online. In some instances, you might have seen composite veneers or even dental crowns, which are thicker, bulkier, and not like porcelain veneers.

Porcelain veneers are rare because they mimic natural lighting like normal teeth, which means they’re the most lifelike prosthetic you could choose.

When working with MyoDental for your veneer makeover, you can rely on the fact that we work closely with you and the dental laboratory to create custom veneer restorations that perfectly complement existing teeth, mouth and face shape and colouring.

Plus, before we adhere the veneers, you’ll get to try your new smile so you can feel confident in the look, fit, and function.

Try-before-you-commit design process: We have a bespoke veneer design with a lab and the ability to preview and trial the new smile before final bonding.

FAQs dental veneers

Although not considered a permanent dental restoration, dental veneers can be long-lasting. Once they have been bonded to the teeth, they can’t be removed without damaging the teeth and with the right care can last anywhere between five and 15 years.

Just like with your natural teeth, it’s important to brush and floss regularly. It’s also best to avoid biting into hard foods that can chip or break the veneers.

The process for getting dental veneers typically involves slight discomfort while your teeth are being prepared. Your dentist can apply a local anaesthetic to minimise any discomfort.

Alternative treatments to dental veneers at MyoDental Weybridge include teeth whitening, composite bonding, and orthodontic treatments such as Invisalign.
