What to expect: A same-day surgery where temporary fixed teeth are fitted immediately, followed by final teeth after a healing period. See costs.
Full mouth implants for low bone density
Traditional dental implants require sufficient bone to anchor securely when replacing missing teeth in the upper arches.
However, because bone loss is a direct consequence of missing teeth, some implants cannot be placed immediately without prior procedures such as bone augmentation.
Graftless dental implants
Zygomatic implants, or “extra-length implants”, on the other hand, bypass this problem as they’re implanted into the cheekbone rather than the jawbone to provide extra strength and stability.
Who it’s for: Zygomatic implants for people with significant upper-jaw bone loss who aren’t suitable for conventional implants.
Upper jaw bone loss implants
Zygomatic implants are indicated for severely resorbed edentulous maxillas (bone loss in total tooth loss cases). The treatment also serves as an alternative for sinus augmentation, failed sinus lifts, or failure of previous bone grafts or conventional implants.
The entire process of zygomatic implants can take anywhere from 4 to 6 months. However, it’s a same-day procedure that takes a few hours. A temporary prosthetic is immediately loaded. The final teeth are placed months later after a sufficient period of healing.
Our prices for Zygomatic implants begin at £17,500. The cost includes the cheekbone implants, abutments, and the immediately loaded and final teeth prostheses. 0% finance is available for 12 months. Interest-bearing terms are available up to 60 months.
Zygomatic implants have gained a lot of attention from journals, where studies have been conducted to research and identify the survival rate of the treatment across a wide range of edentulous cases.
For example, one particular study conducted by the NIH showed that zygomatic dental implants had a 95%-100% survival rate:
“The cumulative success rate of zygomatic implants for the treatment of severe maxillary atrophy was 98.5% at less than 1 year, 97.5% between 1 and 3 years, 96.8% between 3 and 5 years and 96.1% after more than 5 years.”
Zygomatic implants are not available at every Surrey dental clinic. Their placement requires adequate training and surgical experience. Implant-dedicated dentist and full-mouth rehabilitation expert Dr Rifai have years of experience placing zygomatic implants.
These are extra-long implants anchored into the cheekbone, designed to provide stability when upper-jaw bone volume is limited.
