Dental crown cost

Wondering much how a dental crown should cost? The cost of a dental crown typically varies depending on the type, material and size of the tooth (not to mention the private dental practice you’re receiving treatment from). At our Surrey practice, the cost of a dental crown starts at £850, or £20.60 per month if you’re paying monthly.

Booking an appointment

While we offer an online booking scheduler for patients to book an appointment online, like a check-up, this option is currently unavailable for booking crowns directly as you’ll require a check-up first.

Patients can book a check-up online, costing from £80 for a new patient and £65 for a registered patient. Or contact us to book an appointment by calling, emailing, or chatting on Live Chat (Mon-Fri until 5.30 pm).

The dental crown procedure

Depending on the type of crown you choose, or we recommend, the procedure can take either 1 or 2 appointments.

Assuming it’s a two-step procedure, in your first appointment, the dentist will prepare the tooth by trimming its shape so the crown can be placed on top.

If the tooth is badly broken, we might first build up some of the tooth’s core structure with strong filling material.

We’ll then take digital impressions, which will be sent to a dental laboratory, where a technician will handcraft your crown.

Alongside the shape and size, the crown’s colour will be carefully chosen to match your other teeth seamlessly.

While we wait for your new crown to be made, we’ll place a temporary crown, which will last until your next appointment.

During your second appointment, we’ll remove the temporary crown and, in its place, position your newly fabricated crown, which we will then further assess for its fit, functionality and appearance.

Any adjustments needed can be made on the same day before we finally cement the crown to the tooth’s core.
