How it works and what you’ll receive:

The beginning of any orthodontic process, including Invisalign, is a consultation with an Invisalign-approved dentist, who can take accurate 3D images and simulations of your teeth, jaw, and mouth.

During your consultation, when you confirm that you want to proceed with the treatment, we’ll typically take a 50% upfront payment, with the final 50% being paid a few weeks later.

If you’re paying with interest-free dental finance over 12 months, we can set up and arrange this during this appointment.

The process broken down

From the precise 3D scans we’ve taken during your initial consultation, we can determine a treatment plan that will act as a roadmap to your newly straight smile.

It will even allow you to see what your smile will look like during each phase and how it will appear at the end, which is your time to make any tweaks and changes.

Typically, around 1-3 weeks later, your new custom-made aligners will have arrived, and we’ll invite you back into the practice to have them fitted so we can check you’re comfortable and that they’ll do what they promise.

We’ll run through instructions on how to care for your aligners and how to clean them, and we will also demonstrate certain practices to ensure excellent compliance with the treatment.

For example, with Invisalign, you’ll want to remove them to eat and drink (water is OK) and should brush your teeth after every meal you have.

For the best results, you must wear your aligners for at least 22 hours per day. Remember, the longer, the better.

Failure to comply means your teeth won’t progress or move as planned, and when you’re ready to swap to your next set of aligners, they won’t fit correctly.

As the weeks go on, you’ll swap out your aligners for a newer, tighter-fitting set to move you into the next stage of your treatment because Invisalign works by gradually realigning your teeth, moving them bit by bit.

During this time, we’ll schedule check-ups with you, some of which can be remote, so we can monitor your progress and pass on your new aligners.

Depending on your treatment plan, your invisible aligners are swapped out every 1-2 weeks.

Included in your Invisalign cost package will be a certain number of refinements. This means that sometimes when you’re close to finishing your course, some teeth might still need further adjustment, which a dentist will check for regularly.

When this happens, we’ll re-order a few more refinement trays from Invisalign to ensure a perfect finish, which will come at no extra cost to you.

Once your Invisalign journey has ended and you have completed your course of aligners, to complete your treatment, we’ll either provide you with a fixed bonded retainer, which will sit on the back of your teeth, ensuring compliance, or a removable one.

Retainers must be worn after orthodontic treatment to ensure your teeth remain in their new position!

How long will the process take?

Invisalign can work in as few weeks, but for most patients with more complex problems, you can expect treatment times to be anywhere from 6-12 months.

How long your Invisalign journey takes entirely depends on the reason for treatment and the severity of your malformation or bite problem.

During your consultation, our Invisalign-certified dentists (Platinum Elite Providers) will explain exactly how long it will take and the timeframes you can expect.

Is the process painful?

While we understand everyone’s experience is unique and pain is subjective, any discomfort felt when wearing your aligners is minimal as you adjust and get used to them.

In the beginning, you might find it more painful as your teeth begin to move, but any discomfort subsides within the week.

Compared to the discomfort reported by patients who wear fixed braces, however, Invisalign comes off better as there are no metal brackets or wires that irritate.
